Stainless steel or some type of silver looking metal. The mechanism is in great workign condition. Music box plays 8 songs, that repeat or play one at a time and repeat. The left side of the. Is a switch that says. Numbers 1-8 for the eight. It also says around the inside of the numbers. On the right side of the mechanism it appears to be.Also, on the right side as you can tell by the picture there is an insignia 'm' & 'f' and inbetween the m&f there is a 's' and a cross going through the 's' the bottom of the s/cross it states 1816. There si also the patented dates of sept. hTis music box is in good.
The cylinder and works/mechanism and the msuic box. Its self is in greta working condition.
On the inside lid there a decorative program that shows the program, but the words are faded and as you can tell by the picture the bottom right corner of the program is torn off. Also, where the crank turns, even though the crank/knob does not touch the wood you can see a circular wera mark in the wood. It is a discolor mark though, not a groove, sa you can see in the picture.
In the picture of the base, underneath you can see a slight crack in the wood and few litlte knot holes, but it doesn't effect the music box. I guess they are also there because of its age. The music box measures approx. 9 1/4 deep x 6 1/2 tall. This wolud make a great addition to anyone who collects antique music would make a great conversation piece to listen to and enjoy for many, many years also would bring back a little bit of nostalgia. Somthing that out our great grandmother & grandfather would of listened to. I also have been infromed that m & f stands for mermod & freres. |
