B A Bermond Antique 1870 Music Box 77 Tooth 6 SongsGet vendio gallery now free! B a bermond antique 1870's 6 song inlay music box. Click to view image album. The orlando private collection was chosen to assist in the liquidation of the assets of an old estate in polk county, florida. The baker estate has a wide variety of antiques and collectibles and we will be listing items from the estate 'till the end of the year. The bakers were originally from upstate ny and married in 1945 and moved to fl around 1985. The couple had 5 children 4 boys and a girl. Up for consideration from the estate is an antique b a bermond, geneve switzerland music box. The box is in excellent working condition and each song plays perfectly and the dampers work fine. Comb is in excellent condition with little to on corrosion. The paper lable for the songs unfortunately is missing. The levers on the right side are the change/repeat and the start/stop controls. Once started the mechanism is designed to make one rotation and stop if the lever has been returned to the stop position. If the lever is left in the start or paly position it will continue to play until put in the stop position or until the main spring winds down completely. The change /repeat lever allows fro a single selection to be played over and over again (repeat) or if in the (change) position the mechanism is designed to cycle through all 6 tunes (also known as aires) and then to begin the cycle again. Depending on the size of the main spring a mechanism mya play fro as much as 1/2 hr before needing to be re-wound. The wood inlay is exceptional and only one small piece to the upper right side is missing. The base plate is cats iron. The box otherwise is in very good condition including the sides and bottom fo the box. One drip of paint is still attached to the varnish from someone paintign a room without covering the box. Overall this item is close to 95 percent intact and in very good working condition. The songs are vibrant and loud as can be expected of the leading quality of this bermond box.
